Suggested Itinerary: (Ferry Ride)

As always, leave early to avoid the crowds. This is a stress free trip AS LONG as you pay attention to the sailing schedule. You do not want to miss a boat if you have somewhere to be. Pack binoculars for the ferry ride along with some food unless you are smart and stop in Anacortes for giant donuts on your way to the ferry terminal. Park at the terminal and walk on. There is plenty to see and do within walking distance of the terminal in Friday Harbor and you will always make it aboard even if the ferry is at capacity for cars. Grab a window seat or camp out on the sun deck for a budget whale watching cruise. You should at the very least see seals, porpoises, eagles, and tons of sea birds if you aren’t lucky enough to see an Orca or Gray Whale. Friday Harbor has lots of shops, restaurants, bars, a couple museums and lots of photo ops. Be sure to wander the marina looking at sea life and the boating life. Stay for lunch and even dinner before catching the ferry back to Anacortes.
