Sad day on the farm
I am sad to announce the passing of our cat, Guster Melvin Pincus. He survived eagles, cars, coyotes, and numerous small children, but couldn’t beat cancer. Shortly after we married in 2011 Karmin went to the pound in Port Angeles and got a kitten against my strenuous objections. I want to emphasize that he was a free cat from the pound. He was not a ‘rescue’ like all the rest of you heroes claim when you get your free animal from wherever. Unless you actively pulled your puppy from a burning car or dove in front of the veterinarian’s needle to save them then they are not a rescue. But I digress. I quickly became a fan of Gus once he completely ignored Karmin and followed me around at home. It drove her nuts and delighted me to no end. Ethan was three when Gus arrived and Gus watched over newborns Lilly and Sam. He has traveled across the county with me on military postings and lived in at least 5 different properties with us as we moved. He murdered all kinds of small critters wherever we lived and frequently brought them or pieces of them to Karmin to show off his prowess. He was a very good cat and will be missed.
